Ceol Manawatu should be applauded. This collective of musicians under the guidance of Paul Turner, of Palmerston North, showcases original compositions connected with the Manawatu region.Till (the third album in the series) sets songs and piping tunes against Celtic-influenced backing to preserve the tunes for future generations.
The 10-plus musicians who have contributed are all highly competent. Turner’s strong lyrics deliver an eclectic mix of song topics ranging from Ireland’s Easter Rising to the All Blacks’ Rugby World Cup win, creating an album full of surprises.
